What is a good but inexpensive make of electric guitar for a 12 year old.?

My daughter is having guitar lessons from a friend of mine. She has learnt a few cords and loves it. She wants an electric guitar for christmas but as she has had many hobbies that come and go i dont want to go to great expense. So are the guitar's from argos and the high street any good and can anyone recommend a brand that is good quality.

Epihone make really good beginner electric guitars and are cheap.They are pretty much a Gibson brand,and gibsons are really high quality.Its all according to what style she is wanting to play.The epiphone guitars sound great for Country,Classical,Southern Rock and Blues.If she wants to get a more metal feel than go with an inexpensive BC Rich or cheap Ibanez.The cheaper versions of these guitars will run around $150 to $200 dollars.Another good version of a beginner guitar would be the K starter series guitars and they run around 100 dollars.

A FENDER IS QUITE REASONABLE IN PRICE AND IS NICE QUALITY

do not dare buy a guitar out of argos they are rubbish. You can get a starter electric guitar from seventy pounds onward or less if it second hand. I would recomend getting a Stagg as they for beginners and are very reliable you can go a step up from that and maybe get a fender squier which are a bit better but a bit more expensive. I would reccomend the Stagg tho

look on Craig's list or pawn shops for a used guitar

fender is and so are others

guitar center has a complete set up with amp gig bag and strap for about $200

Rogue is a good quality guitar and real cheap. I have two of them. (an accoustic, and a bass) and they are both great. I think I paid around 60$ each. ANd they sound great.
